Okay, this time I'm serious. [caption id="attachment_30" align="alignnone" width="590" caption="A leaf frozen into the ice on the lake at Summit Lake State Park "][/caption]
I've tried starting blogs before and they always dried up after a few lame efforts at posts. This time though, it's different... and here's why:
- In the past, I always had trouble deciding what to talk about. What exactly was the blog about? Who cared? (Did I?) Now I know: this blog is about photography. Or rather, what I know — and don't know — about photography. What I do know will get me started. What I don't know will provide years of material.
- Over the last 18 months, I've become more dedicated to the craft of photography, thanks in large part to David duChemin, author of Within The Frame: The Journey of Photographic Vision and VisionMongers: Making a Life and Living in Photography. I've been a photographer for a long time, but David's words stirred something in me to try harder to discover my own personal vision and to capture it through photography. If this blog has a dedication, it's to David.
- Also over the last 18 months, I've found a community of wonderfully talented and supportive photographers on Twitter — none of whom I've actually met (yet). But they are so passionate about this craft and its effect on their lives and others, that I couldn't help but get caught up in it too. If I attempt to list them all here, I know I'll miss some. So if you're on Twitter, check my list of photographers I follow.
So here we go. I hope you enjoy the ride.
And speaking of rides...
